Passion makes perfect
Tonight I heard a wonderful speech about living in la and struggling with the idea of perfection.
The speaker went on to express how her ex husband, a jazz musician, had a hard time making a perfect piece of music.
She said that she would listen to it and he would ask if she heard subtle differences; which she didn't and she went on to tell him his fans most likely could not either.
As I work on my new album; now back in the mixing stage after a brief detour; I'm no stranger to perfection.
We tweak; we edit; we omit; we copy and paste; and then for hours we struggle over it; listening intensely until we hate what we once loved.
There is no such thing as perfection; but I do believe it is passion that propels us forward. Everything is subjective and there comes a point when you have to say it is done: it's as perfect as it can get . Don't try to be perfect; try to be more passionate!
