I am working with my team at work to learn how better to say things when speaking with customers. I feel that after working the last 4.5 years leading a customer service team, and studying great customer service from places like Zappos, Amazon and others I have learned a lot. I also have learned a lot from my Toastmasters experiences both in leadership and communication.
You have to always think about your message, your tone, and how it will come across to the reader. Even in writing this blog and I am finding new ways to express myself and use language to communicate more effectively with an audience.
You never know how something will be read, and without other clues from your gestures and body language and tone it is difficult to build rapport or trust.
Try learning the best practices in your field and study what others are doing and see if you can improve. Gain valuable feedback from people to learn, did I say that correctly? How did you feel when you heard me say that? Can I say that better?
Never stop improving. Be a better you today.
