How do you eat and elephant? One bite at a time. But where do you start? The head, the neck, the feet?? I would never eat an elephant since they are most likely endangered and they don't look very appetizing to me.
But it brings up a good point. You need a plan of attack. You need to know where you will start first. I think this is what keeps people from starting, they don't know where and they don't know how.
Today I sat with my team to figure out how to do something and where to start. We needed to take swift action to clear up some things on our books and now they can be busy getting that task done.
Learning to lead takes time and practice, but it all starts with a solid plan. Every day you make a to do list. It will help you clear tasks.
I set one task to blog everyday. When I reach that goal I scratch it off the list and move on to the next task.
Some days they day gets away from me with too many tasks, but then I always come back to the to do list and start again in the morning.
Plan your attacks, chop the tree down one stroke at a time, but know where you plan to hit it first then keep attacking it until TIMBER!
