Prince was an anomaly. He played multiple instruments; he wrote, produced, acted, sang and influenced many.
His death comes as a shock and he will be missed.
Listening to some of his bsides, artist who covered him, and the music he produced for others I am learning so much from him.
Right now I have been listening to the first Sheila E. Album and a song "Oliver's House." I can see how that sound influenced Prince protégés Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and their early work with Janet Jackson.
Prince pushed boundaries. He dared to be different. He didn't care what people thought and made music just for himself.
He is the reason for parental advisory warnings, butt out pants, and can not be defined or confined.
His music will live on. They are his off spring. When they crack open the vaults I know he's gotta a few gems in there; perhaps even a few more diamonds and pearls. Rest in purple.
